To whom it may concern

It gives me great pleasure to provide a reference on Afroteq Facilities Management Company, whose services I have used in my previous role as Human Resources Director at an internationally renowned company.

My experience with Afroteq dates back to the year 2000 when, as HR Director, my responsibilities included the provision and management of all facilities and associated services (Building maintenance, transport, mail handling, photo copying, managing third party suppliers etc). At the time, all these services were managed by an in-house Office Services function which consumed extensive management time and lacked a clearly defined service delivery model and service standards.

I enlisted the services of Afroteq to assist in conducting a comprehensive review of all of the company’s existing facilities management activities, including the identification of opportunities for improvement as well as an evaluation of in/outsourcing options.

Whilst at the time, Afroteq was a relatively young company, the individuals brought extensive facilities and project management expertise and professionalism, which resulted in the board accepting a proposal to implement a number of significant changes. In addition, following a selection process, Afroteq was awarded the contract to provide the Facilities management services on an outsourced basis and hence assumed full responsibility for implementation. The following notable achievements were delivered in the first year:

  • The implementation of a clear service delivery model including the complete outsourcing of the Facilities management function.
  • The implementation of a comprehensive Change Management program
  • A comprehensive review of service agreements with third party suppliers (in many instances supplier agreements were non-existent or had not been reviewed for several years; clear service level agreements were not in place or were not being actively managed). In addition, a proactive supplier management program was instituted.
  • The identification and delivery of recurring cost savings of the order of 15% annualised.

At the time of my departure from the company in 2004, Afroteq as a company had demonstrated its capability and competence in a number of areas:

  • They are a team of professionals who clearly have a deep understanding of Facilities management.
  • They are equally adept at delivering the “hard” facilities management services such as Air-conditioning, Electrical and Lift maintenance as they are in managing people issues;
  • Their project management expertise in implementing complex changes together with a clear understanding of Change Management ensured the smooth and on-time delivery of the plans;
  • Their “can-do” attitude together with their focus on continuous improvement have resulted in a sustainable improvement in the quality and cost efficiency of the company's facilities management function. Their continued mutually beneficial relationship with this international company after 7 years bears testimony to this.

I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Afroteq as a supplier of Facilities Management services.

Yours truly,

Clifford van der Venter

To whom it may concern

I am pleased to share my service experience of Afroteq Facilities Management. In 2003 The Department of Public Works contracted Afroteq to provide specialist input as Facilities Manager and Spatial framework designer for the Parliament Complex in Cape Town.

Their brief was to do a comprehensive status quo report as well as to provide practical proposals for future accommodation needs for Parliament.

The Department was most pleased with the fact that Afroteq managed to meet all required deadlines, applied cost efficiency, managed constant change, responded well to demands, showed an acute knowledge of specific client culture, applied solid design principles, showed a lot of attention to detail and made sure of the critical handover process which constantly applied quality control.

The Department has since twice made use of their services and have found their designs innovative and in line with the latest trends in the market. As my Business Partner, they took the time to understand our culture and business strategies and created a practical, efficient and ergonomic work environment that was pleasing to the occupants. Their project management was reliable, efficient and delivered as promised and on time. They demonstrated Project Management based on sound project planning and supporting documentation and reports.

I wish to thank them for the sound solutions & support on the space and change management challenges I faced in our ever changing and growing environment.

Yours faithfully

To whom it may concern

It gives me great pleasure to provide a reference on Afroteq Facilities Management whom we had the pleasure of working with for the past two years.

In 2006 Chevron awarded us a chauffeur service contract and as part of their BBEEE procurement strategy, it was it was Afroteq's task to ensure that, we, a very young and fairly inexperienced Tour operating company, rendered a professional and reliable service to this international oil company.

We were truly impressed by the professionalism and the manner in which the relationship and service was implemented and managed. This included;

  • Key stakeholder introductions and ongoing formal presentations and workshops.
  • Training of all our drivers according to the client's standards.
  • Setting reporting, safety and business process standards.
  • Ensuring that Knoble Tours never operate outside industry regulations.

This company has a deep understanding of the challenges and impact on safety and service failure and helped us to overcome human factor challenges pro-actively, for which we will always be grateful. Rather than managing us by means of penalties they stretched us by offering incentives and this kept our drivers motivated and unbelievingly, resulted in huge cost savings to chevron.

Their management style was a mentoring but firm one as such we can now confidently compete with any well established competitor based on a 0.03% failure rate based on +/- 1300 transfers per month.

When I think of Afroteq a saying comes to mind. "Small enough to care, big enough to deliver".

We wish Afroteq success in their business and thank them for putting their money where their mouth is. They will reap what they sow.

Yours sincerely
